How in the Lipetsk region nine villages united to defend their land There is an arable field in the Lipetsk region 50 hectares in size with an old manor pond. In a ravine roe deer and hares live, beavers live in the pond, and residents of nearby villages We are used to going there to relax and go fishing.  But at the end of November 2021 they learned that local officials had decided to build on this field regional landfill for waste disposal. In other words, every year bury a trainload of garbage in the ground — no less than 250 tons. The Department of Ecology of the Lipetsk Region does not notice this pond because “it is not on the balance sheet of the village council, ” environmental services brush people off. For local residents, the future landfill at fertile black soil and an unfamiliar tenant, who must take up construction of the landfill became a turning point. Just four days it took the residents of nine villages, usually closed and scattered, to unite, talk about common pain and protest against trash cans. All village residents come to the hearings and meetings — about a thousand Human. My family lives in one of the villages located in close proximity to the proposed location polygon. I talked to my neighbors and they told me why it was the garbage on the black soil that became the point of no return for them, which inner strength encourages them to write appeals to the president, film videos about the beauty of our nature and how to use ditties and faith in Russian folklore can prevent the radicalization of protest.
